The Institute for Law & AI, an independent think tank that researches and advises on the legal challenges of artificial intelligence, runs a paid 10 week summer fellowship in Washington, DC, focused on US AI law and policy. Who can apply

A strong understanding of the legal principles applicable to AI regulation in US law and policy, through formal US legal study (for example an incoming 1L) or comparable professional experience
Formal legal training of some kind is generally required for this track
Full professional fluency in spoken and written English
Able to commit full time from 14 June to 20 August 2027; date adjustments considered only in exceptional circumstances
Able to attend the Convening Week in Washington, DC, 21 to 25 June 2027
In-person participation in Washington, DC, is strongly encouraged, and for law students the ability to attend in person is a selection factor; remote arrangements are considered case by case
Must hold, or obtain, valid visa or immigration permission for the location you will be based in; LawAI will make every reasonable effort to support sponsorship
