About this opportunity

Georgetown University's Collaborative on Global Children's Issues runs Global Frontline Leaders, a 10 month, fully virtual programme that brings together a new global cohort each year around one issue facing children and families. The 2027 cohort focuses on mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) for children and families in conflict, crisis and low-resource settings, and is open to practitioners, researchers and policymakers already working on an MHPSS project. Participants share what works in their own context, co-author a published paper and receive a $7,500 USD stipend.

What you get:

  • A $7,500 USD stipend, paid in two installments, each tied to a programme deliverable
  • One-to-one mentoring or leadership coaching
  • Monthly workshops with guest speakers, case studies and peer learning
  • Virtual networking with peers, Georgetown University faculty and leaders from UN agencies, NGOs and foundations
  • A co-authored published paper, presented to an international audience through a Georgetown webinar
  • Membership of the Collaborative's alumni network after the programme

What you'll do:

  • Attend a personal orientation session in January 2027
  • Join monthly workshops from February to November 2027 and complete pre- and post-workshop assignments
  • Meet monthly with a mentor or coach
  • Present your own MHPSS approach and compare how mental health support works across countries
  • Co-author a paper with your cohort and present it in a webinar
  • Keep doing your current MHPSS work, since the programme is part-time

Key dates:

  • Applications close November 6, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time
  • Selected candidates notified by mid-December 2026
  • Individual orientation in January 2027
  • Programme runs February to November 2027

More information:

  • Selection has four stages: eligibility screening, expert panel review, a virtual panel interview of about 30 minutes, then possible reference checks
  • Questions go to globalchildfellows@georgetown.edu

Who can apply

  • Currently working on an MHPSS project; a gap needs an exemption request, granted rarely
  • Experienced practitioner, researcher or policymaker
  • Proficient in English, with test scores submitted unless English is your first language
  • Resume or CV, details of your current MHPSS project including your organisation's child protection policy, and contact details for three references
  • Open worldwide; participation is fully virtual
