FLY Girl Ambassador Fellowship

FLY Girl Institute, a Nashville nonprofit that has spent eleven years working with young women across 16 Metro Nashville Public Schools, is seating ten young women aged 18 to 25 in a twelve-month leadership cohort. Each fellow supports the organisation's whole programme and owns one area of it, from storytelling and social media to events, tech or wellness, with direct mentorship from its leaders. The year is hybrid, built around monthly gatherings and an in-person meetup every quarter, and ends with a stipend of up to $1,000 paid at completion.

What you get:

• A stipend of up to $1,000, paid at completion
• Direct mentorship from Kara James and Renee' Jones, who lead FLY Girl Institute, and access to what FGI calls a fifteen-year network
• A portfolio, a growth plan, a LinkedIn recommendation, a reference letter and a credential
• At least one public speaking, media or storytelling moment
• Monthly wellness rituals, life skills and emotional development
• First access to paid FGI roles as they open, a pathway to the board, and lifelong alumna status
• A cohort selected together, plus a circle of grown women behind you for life

What you'll do:

• Own one leadership area and its results: storytelling and media, marketing and social, events and activations, recruitment and outreach, tech and systems, wellness and rituals, or merch and brand
• Support all of FGI's work, helping advance the Hi Felisha storytelling campaign, Black Girl Equity advocacy and FGI's core youth programmes
• Join monthly cohort gatherings and an in-person meetup once a quarter, and do the rest of the work on your own schedule
• Be present at key campaign moments through the year, starting with a running start into Giving Tuesday
• Build a portfolio, a network and a leadership identity of your own over the full twelve months

• Free intro workshop on Zoom: Tuesday, September 15, 2026, 12:00 to 1:00 PM Central (a first session ran on September 10)
• Applications close September 30, 2026
• Cohort begins October 15, 2026, with onboarding
• Fellowship year: November 2026 to September 2027
• Graduation, stipend and alumna status: October 2027

• The application takes about 30 minutes and asks which leadership area you want to own and what you want to be able to say about yourself twelve months from now
• Selection is a short application followed by a conversation with Kara and Renee
• The intro workshop is optional: if you cannot attend, register anyway and FGI will send the recording and the application link
