Who can apply

  • Aged 18 or over on the traineeship start date; there is no upper age limit
  • A national of an EU member state or of an accession or candidate country; a very limited number of traineeships can go to nationals of other countries
  • A full university degree (EQF level 6) obtained at least three months before the start, or, for a limited number of offers, a vocational qualification of at least two years obtained in the EU (EQF levels 3 to 5)
  • Final-year students can apply if the degree will be confirmed at least three months before the traineeship starts
  • Thorough knowledge of one official EU language and very good knowledge of a second (good, for vocational applicants); non-EU nationals need very good English, French or German
  • A criminal record extract issued within six months of the start date
  • No more than two months of previous work or traineeship in any EU institution, body or agency
  • No study visit at the Parliament's Secretariat in the six months before the start
  • A maximum of three applications per campaign; applying to more means disqualification
