Paid UNDP Rome Climate and Energy Internship

The United Nations Development Programme's Rome Centre for Climate Action and Energy Transition, which also serves as UNDP's office in Italy, is looking for a full-time intern to support its climate and energy portfolio for six months. You can do the internship from the office in Rome or home-based, and UNDP pays a monthly stipend to interns who are not funded by a university, government or scholarship.

What you get:

• A monthly stipend from UNDP for interns not financially supported by another institution, meant to cover basic daily expenses such as meals and local transport (the posting does not state the amount)
• Six months of full-time work inside UNDP's climate and energy team in Rome, either in the office or home-based
• Exposure to the Rome Centre's programmes, including the Energy for Growth initiative, the PISTA climate finance facility and Youth4Climate
• Leave accrued at 1.5 days per month

What you'll do:

• Research climate and energy topics such as renewable energy systems and climate change mitigation, and compile data for reports and presentations
• Help coordinate climate and energy projects, including project preparation and investment facilitation, and track progress and deadlines
• Prepare documents, meeting minutes and correspondence for the climate and energy teams
• Draft social media posts, newsletters and briefing notes, and support outreach to partners
• Help organise workshops, webinars and events on climate and energy

Key dates:

• Internship lasts six months, full time

• Enrolled in a graduate programme (master's preferred), or in the final year of a bachelor's degree, or graduated within the past year and able to start within one year of graduation
• Studying or graduated in public policy, political science, environmental science, energy studies, climate policy, international relations, economics, engineering, marketing or a related field
• Excellent written and spoken English; another UN language or Italian is an asset
• Strong research, analytical, writing and organisational skills, and proficiency in MS Office
• Interest in sustainable development and climate change; knowledge of youth and climate is an asset
• Must hold valid medical insurance for the duty station, including medical evacuation and repatriation cover for non-residents
