OPENx is TEDxLondon's speaking programme for young people in the UK who have an idea they want to share with the world. Fifteen applicants are selected for four weeks of online training with expert mentors to develop a TED-style talk, then audition in London for one or two places on the TEDxLondon stage in April 2027. This year's themes are climate, democracy and justice, and you do not need any public speaking experience. **What you get:** - Four weeks of online speaker training, with a two-hour workshop each week and small group mentoring from expert coaches - An in-person audition day in London in front of a panel of judges - For one or two speakers, a place on the TEDxLondon stage at the Festival of Ideas, with extra coaching from TEDxLondon beforehand - An invitation to the Festival of Ideas for all 15 participants who complete the training and the audition, whether or not they speak - All training, mentoring and travel costs for in-person participation covered by TEDxLondon **What you'll do:** - Apply with a short video explaining your idea on climate, democracy or justice, plus answers to the application questions - If selected, join at least three of the four online training sessions and develop your idea into a talk - Deliver your talk at the in-person audition day in London, which is required **Key dates:** - Online Q&A: 6pm, October 12, 2026 - Applications close 12pm (UK time), October 15, 2026 - All applicants hear back by October 26, 2026 - Online training: November 5, 12, 19 and 26, 2026, 6pm to 8pm - Audition day in London: December 12, 2026 - TEDxLondon Festival of Ideas, London: April 24 to 25, 2027 **More information:** - Applicants aged 16 or 17 need parental or guardian consent, which is collected during the application - Access requirements for the online training and the audition day are asked about in the application form - Questions can go to clover@tedxlondon.com before the deadline
