NATO's Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum, a multinational military headquarters in the south of the Netherlands, is recruiting ten paid interns for a six month placement from 30 August 2027 to 25 February 2028. Each internship sits in a named office, from the Political and Legal Advisors to public affairs, protocol, logistics, engineering and innovation, and interns work on real projects alongside NATO staff. Who can apply

  • Citizen of one of the 32 NATO member nations
  • Enrolled in full time education (at least 20 hours of lessons a week or equivalent credits) of which the internship is an integral part, and still enrolled for the whole internship
  • A signed agreement from your school or university approving the internship as part of your studies
  • At least 21 years old when the internship starts; normally not over 35 unless in a PhD relevant to JFC Brunssum
  • Fluent spoken and written English
  • Degree requirement varies by post: some want a current Bachelor's student, others a Bachelor's or Master's student, and the Political Advisor and Joint Engineering posts require a completed Bachelor's plus Master's enrolment
  • Once selected: a national security clearance, a copy of your or your parents' liability insurance, a Dutch residence permit or declaration of registration, and a Dutch citizen service number (BSN)
