The European Central Bank in Frankfurt is hiring a trainee for its International Policy Analysis Division, part of the Directorate General International and European Relations. The division works on the global economy, international monetary and financial systems, exchange rates, commodities and international spillovers. Who can apply

  • National of a Member State of the European Union or of an acceding country
  • At least 18 years old at the closing date
  • A bachelor's degree or higher in economics, econometrics, finance, data engineering, data science, applied mathematics or a related field
  • No more than 12 months of professional experience and no more than six months as a trainee since your most recent qualification, unless you are enrolled in a postgraduate course
  • Never previously a trainee at, or employed by, the ECB
  • Advanced (C1) English and at least intermediate (B1) command of another official EU language
  • A sound understanding of international finance, monetary economics, data science or international macroeconomics
  • Experience collecting data from statistical agencies or data providers, and/or data analysis
  • Intermediate knowledge of a programming language or econometric package such as R, Stata, Python, MATLAB, EViews, SQL or Julia, and advanced Excel
  • Desirable: a master's degree, or being close to completing one, in a related field
