About this opportunity

The Diana Award is a UK charity set up in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales, and each year it honours up to 200 young people from around the world for their social action. Nominations for the 2027 Award are open, but a young person cannot put themselves forward: an adult who knows them through school, work, volunteering or their community has to nominate them, with two further supporters. If you are 16 to 24 and have been running or leading social action for at least a year, share this with a teacher, youth worker, employer or mentor who could nominate you.

What you get:

  • Recognition at the Virtual Diana Award Ceremony
  • A place on the Diana Award Roll of Honour
  • A Certificate of Recognition
  • Opportunities to connect with a global network of young leaders
  • Invitations to Conversations for Change, peer-led sessions for recipients
  • No money: this is a recognition award

What you'll do:

  • Ask an adult who knows you professionally or formally (teacher, youth worker, employer, mentor, coach or community leader) to nominate you; they cannot be a family member
  • Agree to your information being shared with The Diana Award
  • Your nominator writes 150 to 300 words on each of five criteria: leadership, tangible impact, peer empowerment, resilience and integrity, sustainability and legacy
  • Your nominator provides three pieces of evidence and names two independent adult supporters, who each submit a statement online
  • Your nominator creates an account on the Award Force nomination platform; nominations can be saved and resumed

Key dates:

  • Nominations opened 4 November 2026, 16:00 GMT
  • Nominations close Friday 8 January 2027, 17:00 UK time (GMT)
  • Eligibility checks, judging and verification through 2027; outcome month not yet confirmed
  • Recipients celebrated at a global virtual ceremony with the 2027 Roll of Honour

More information:

  • Read the 2027 Diana Award Nomination Guide on the Nomination Centre page before starting
  • Questions: nominations@diana-award.org.uk, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm UK time

Who can apply

  • Aged 16 to 24 at the time of nomination (may be 25 when the Award is received)
  • Actively involved in their social action for at least 12 months
  • Social action aligned with SDG 4 Quality Education, SDG 3 Good Health and Wellbeing, SDG 10 Reduced Inequalities or SDG 13 Climate Action
  • Has not previously received the Diana Award (unsuccessful past nominees may be nominated again)
  • Individuals only; groups and organisations cannot be nominated, though members of the same project can be nominated separately
  • Open to young people worldwide
  • Self-nominations are not accepted. The nominator must be 18 or over, know the young person in a professional or formal capacity, not be a family member, and name two independent supporters aged 18 or over who are not family or friends
