The North-South Centre of the Council of Europe, based in Lisbon, runs a free tutored online course for young people on how human rights connect to climate change, pollution and biodiversity loss. It is part of its Human Rights Education for Youth (HEY) programme and of iLEGEND III, a joint programme of the European Union and the Council of Europe. The course runs in English from 28 October to 24 November 2026. **What you get:** - A place on a four-week tutored online course in English, run by the Council of Europe's North-South Centre - An introduction to the triple planetary crisis (climate change, pollution and biodiversity loss) seen from a North-South angle - A grounding in how human rights and the environment connect, through global and regional legal frameworks - A cohort of young civil society members, youth leaders and activists from Europe, Africa and the Middle East **What you'll do:** - Follow four weekly modules online on the HEY Programme e-learning platform, about 30 hours in total, mostly at your own pace - Take part in self-organised group activities and a small number of live tutoring sessions - Earn a certificate of participation when you complete the course **Key dates:** - Applications close 18 October 2026 at 23:59 Lisbon time - Selection results announced 23 October 2026 - Course runs online from 28 October to 24 November 2026 **More information:** - Questions go to the North-South Centre secretariat at hey@coe.int - The application form asks about your organisation, your role in it, your environmental experience and your motivation, so have these ready
