The Association of Commonwealth Universities runs an online course, delivered by Universal Impact and The Conversation, that teaches early career researchers at ACU member universities how to explain their research to a non-academic audience and how to pitch and write for the media. Places are limited, and participants may have an article published in The Conversation if it is accepted. **What you get:** - A place on an online media writing course delivered by Universal Impact and The Conversation - One-to-one online feedback on your own media pitch - The chance to have your article published in The Conversation, if accepted **What you'll do:** - Attend two online group sessions of two hours each - Write a media pitch of 250 to 350 words - Refine it in a one-to-one online session **Key dates:** - Applications opened 29 September 2026 - Applications close 24 November 2026, 15:00 UTC - Training runs online in early to mid 2027: two two-hour group sessions, then one-to-one sessions over about six months
