Youth Central is a registered Canadian charity in Calgary that has run free youth leadership and volunteer programmes since 1992. Its grants programme puts money directly into youth-led community projects through four separate streams, from $200 to $2,000. Every application is reviewed by the Calgary Youth Foundation, a committee of young people who assess proposals and decide together where the funding goes. **What you get:** - Up to $2,000 from the Jim Button Youth Grant, for 12 to 18 year olds leading a community project - Up to $200 from a Microgrant, designed to get a project started right away - Up to $1,000 for groups or $500 for individuals from the Jack Leslie Youth Environmental Grant, run with the City of Calgary and Parks Foundation - Up to $1,500 from the Airdrie Youth Impact Grant, run with the Airdrie Board of Youth Affairs - A funding decision made by a committee of your peers - A decision either way, since unsuccessful applicants are notified at the same time as successful ones **What you'll do:** - Propose a project you want to lead, alone or with a school, local not-for-profit or grassroots group - Apply through the form for the stream that matches your project and budget - Run your project once funds are awarded, which for Microgrants and the Airdrie grant is the month after the cutoff - Submit a 1 to 3 page final report with participation tracking, financial documentation and photos for the Jim Button or Airdrie grant - Share your success informally for a Microgrant, by email, photo or phone call - Attend the virtual award ceremony if you are funded through the Jack Leslie environmental grant
