Visa Foundation is putting $2 million into one-year grants for U.S. nonprofits that give hands-on help to small and micro businesses, such as training, coaching, technical assistance and support with digital tools and AI. Grants run from $100,000 to $250,000, sized to the organisation's budget, and can pay for programmes or for staff and running costs. Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors runs the open call on Visa Foundation's behalf. **What you get:** - A one-time, flexible grant of $100,000 to $250,000, with the amount set by your organisation's budget size - Funding for 12 months, starting January 2027 - Money you can spend on new or existing programmes (training, technical assistance, coaching, digital adoption) or on operating needs such as staffing and administration - Learning and peer exchange sessions with other grantees, run by Visa Foundation through the grant period **What you'll do:** - Register your organisation on the application portal and answer the application questions, which are published as a PDF in advance - Upload two years of audited financial statements (or two years of IRS Form 990s) and your board-approved operating budgets for 2026 and 2027 - If funded, deliver your plan over 12 months and submit a final narrative and financial report covering businesses reached, jobs supported and revenue growth **Key dates:** - Applications opened September 28, 2026 - Applications close October 21, 2026 at 12:00 PM (noon) Pacific Time; late applications are not considered - Funding decisions by January 2027 - 12-month grant period begins January 2027 **More information:** - The program defines small and micro businesses as independently owned, currently operating businesses, typically with 50 or fewer employees and $1.5 million or less in annual revenue, though there are no strict cutoffs - Organisations are less likely to be competitive if they mainly serve aspiring or idea-stage entrepreneurs, reach fewer than 200 small businesses a year, or cannot show outcomes - Priority may go to organisations helping small businesses adopt AI, digital tools and technology, with measurable impact and trusted community relationships - No single industry is prioritised; the cohort will be chosen to reflect a range of geographies, service models and communities - One application per organisation (per EIN). Applications are not treated as confidential, and Visa Foundation receives a non-exclusive licence to use them for evaluation and reporting - Questions go to EntrepreneurialSupportRFP@rockpa.org; applications cannot be submitted by email
