EA Funds is a grantmaker run by the Effective Ventures Foundation, granting since 2017 and publishing its full grants database. The Transformative AI Fund makes early-stage grants to individuals, new organisations and existing organisations starting something new, aimed at reducing catastrophic risks from advanced AI. It replaced the Long-Term Future Fund in August 2026. Applications are open on a rolling basis from any country, and you do not need to be a registered charity to receive money. **What you get:** - A grant typically between $10,000 and $150,000, which the fund says rarely exceeds $300,000 - Funding the fund itself describes as early-stage, fast and tolerant of failure - A decision inside about three weeks for most applications, and within two months for all of them - Assessment by a full-time grantmaking team rather than a volunteer committee **What you'll do:** - Submit an application through the fund's online form, which they say takes under an hour - Propose a project that helps the transition to transformative AI go well, through technical research, policy analysis, forecasting, advocacy or a demonstration project - Alternatively propose training for researchers and practitioners, or field-building infrastructure - Explain the theory of change behind your project - Complete a due diligence and legal feasibility assessment if your proposal is recommended for funding
