Who can apply

  • Must be a citizen of one of the 49 Sub‑Saharan African countries
  • Must be conducting research in a recognized institution in the region
  • Doctoral candidates: must be in 2nd year or higher of PhD
  • Post‑doctoral researchers: must have defended thesis after Feb 2021 (extended for maternity leave)
  • Previous awardees of any L’Oréal‑UNESCO programme are not eligible
  • Selection criteria: scientific excellence, quality of application, ability to communicate science
  • Graduate student
  • In a postgraduate program
