Halton Region, the regional government for Burlington, Halton Hills, Milton and Oakville in Ontario, funds non-profit human service programmes that improve the health, safety and well-being of Halton residents. The 2027 intake is open now and offers two streams: one-year grants of up to $30,000 for short-term, small capital or innovative projects, and multi-year grants of up to three years with no set maximum for registered charities. Collaborative proposals between organisations are encouraged. **What you get:** - Category One: up to $30,000 for up to one year, for short-term, small capital or innovative projects - Category Two: funding for up to three years per grant, with no set maximum on the amount requested - Funding can cover staffing, equipment and supplies, capital items, communications, professional services, operating costs and administration (recommended maximum of 10 percent) - About $2.3 million is available for new grants in 2027, out of roughly $5.5 million in annual funding **What you'll do:** - Deliver a human service programme or initiative that serves Halton residents and supports one or more Community Safety and Well-Being objectives: health, safety or well-being - Set measurable objectives, defined outcomes and an evaluation plan, backed by programme, population or community data showing need - Report back to Halton Region under a funding agreement, expected to begin in April 2027 **Key dates:** - Applications opened September 15, 2026 - Virtual information session September 29, 2026, 1 to 2:30 p.m. (register at least one hour before) - Applications close October 20, 2026 at 2 p.m. ET - Funding decisions from March 2027 - Funding agreements expected to begin April 2027 **More information:** - Full Category One and Category Two guidelines are on the HRCIF page at halton.ca - Questions: CommunityInvestmentFund@halton.ca, 311 within Halton, or 1-866-442-5866 toll-free - Halton notes this intake may be the only one offered for the 2027 funding year
