Girl Up, the global girls' leadership movement hosted by Global Fund for Children, gives trust-based grants to young people aged 13 to 25 with an idea to advance gender justice in their own community. You choose the issue, design the project and set the budget, and Girl Up does not ask for receipts. Who can apply

  • Aged 13 to 25
  • An idea to advance gender justice in your own community; it does not need to be fully formed
  • Apply as an individual activist, a youth group or a Girl Up Club+; membership of a Club+ is not required and groups do not need to be registered
  • Leader of Peers (up to US$1,000) is only for a Club+ that has already carried out at least one local action; everyone else applies to Leader of Self (up to US$500)
  • You can apply to one tier only
  • Applicants under 18 need a parent or guardian to authorise the application and co-sign receipt of the funds
  • Funds cannot be sent to groups based in Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran, Libya, Myanmar, North Korea, the Russian Federation, Somalia, Sudan, Syria or occupied parts of Ukraine; China, Cuba, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Iraq, Palestine, Venezuela and Yemen may need extra screening
