About this opportunity

PATH, working with the African Institute for Development Policy (AFIDEP) and the Organisation of African Youth (OAY) as the VOICES consortium, is giving one grant per country to partnerships of local civil society and youth-led organisations in 22 African countries. The money funds coordinated advocacy that pushes governments to spend more of their own budgets on the health and nutrition of women, children and adolescents. The programme is funded by the Global Financing Facility and the World Bank Group's CIVIC alliance.

What you get:

A grant of up to US$150,000, or up to US$175,000 in Kenya and Nigeria, for up to 18 months
Advocacy training, budget analysis technical assistance and mentorship from the VOICES consortium
In-person training in Nairobi (Anglophone and Lusophone countries) or Dakar (Francophone countries), with travel for two representatives built into your budget
An invitation to join the Global Youth Platform and cross-country learning with the other funded partnerships

What you'll do:

Build or strengthen coordination among health civil society groups, youth-led organisations and coalitions in your country
Run advocacy for more domestic public spending on reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health and nutrition, at national and, where relevant, subnational level
Take part in government planning and budgeting spaces, track commitments and share evidence and lessons

Who can apply

Apply as a partnership of two or three local organisations; an organisation cannot apply alone
At least one partner must be a youth-led organisation (young people, typically aged 15 to 35, hold primary leadership)
All partners must be legally registered and operating in the same eligible country: Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Cote d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe
International organisations are not eligible
The lead organisation needs at least five years of experience in health financing advocacy and accountability for RMNCAH+N; each partner needs at least three years in health advocacy
The lead organisation must have external audits, working financial systems and the capacity to manage and subgrant donor funds
An organisation may join only one partnership application, and Pillar 1 grantees cannot also be funded under Pillar 2
Proposals must address both priority areas and may be written in English, French or Portuguese
