The Ireland Funds, a philanthropic network founded in 1976, funds talented graduates from across the island of Ireland to study for a Master's at a university in the US, Canada, the UK or Europe. Each award covers most of the cost of a full-time course of up to two years, from university fees to travel, visa, health insurance and living costs, and this round is for courses starting between July and October 2027. Any field qualifies, but the programme looks for people likely to make a real difference on major global challenges, and it actively seeks students who could not otherwise afford to study abroad. **What you get:** - A scholarship covering most of the cost of a Master's abroad: university fees, research, travel, visa, health insurance and other key living costs - An award set from your own budget. In 2025, Scholars going to the UK were typically awarded £30,000 to £55,000, those going to the USA $60,000 to $90,000, and those going to Europe €20,000 to €30,000 - Funding for a full-time Master's of up to two years, including dual Master's programmes run in two or more locations - Mentorship and access to a global network of fellow Scholars, and a place in the George Moore Scholars Alumni Network - Help preparing US tax returns from Sprintax, for Scholars studying in the US - Freedom to combine the award with other support, such as university funding or an Erasmus Mundus scholarship **What you'll do:** - Study full time for a Master's at a university in the US, Canada, the UK or Europe, starting between July and October 2027 - Send the programme team the reports it asks for, by its deadlines, while you study - As an alumnus, take part in programme surveys, interviews and focus groups, and help promote the programme to future applicants if invited - Nothing else is formally required: the programme only asks Scholars to consider paying it forward by supporting others **Key dates:** - Online information sessions on 28 October and 2 November 2026 at 1pm; a recording of the 21 October session is linked from the home page - Applications opened 19 October 2026 - Applications close 3 November 2026 at 5pm - Referees must upload their references by 13 November 2026 - January and February 2027: assessment and initial outcomes. Applicants not going forward to academic review hear by the end of January; those not called to interview hear by the end of February - 1 to 12 March 2027: 20-minute interviews on Zoom for about 90 shortlisted candidates - By 31 March 2027: interview outcomes. Shortlisted Scholars then submit their course offer and a detailed budget - July to October 2027: Master's courses begin **More information:** - How to apply: register on the programme's online portal, answer the questions on your chosen course, your study objective, why you would benefit and a high-level budget, then upload your passport, a two-page CV, your transcripts for every year so far and a headshot (a portfolio is required for visual artists) - Eligibility rules in full: https://georgemoorescholars.ie/subpages/eligibility/ - Award values, destinations and duration: https://georgemoorescholars.ie/subpages/scholarships/ - FAQs, including how applications are assessed: https://georgemoorescholars.ie/subpages/faqs/ - Tips for applicants and referees: https://georgemoorescholars.ie/subpages/tips-for-applicants/ - 2026 Application Guide (PDF): https://irelandfunds.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/GMS-Application-Guide-2026.pdf - Questions: info@georgemoorescholars.ie
