Full Maastricht NL-High Potential Master's Scholarship

Maastricht University in the Netherlands offers 18 full scholarships each year to talented students from outside the EU/EEA who want to do a master's degree there. Each one waives tuition and pays a monthly stipend, plus insurance, visa costs and a two-week preparation course before classes start. Who can apply

  • Nationality of a country outside the EU/EEA, Switzerland or Surinam, with no dual EU/EEA or Swiss nationality
  • Able to obtain an entry visa and residence permit for the Netherlands; a residence permit from another Schengen country only counts if valid until at least 2 September 2027
  • Applied for a participating full-time master's programme at Maastricht University for 2027-2028, with the application file complete and meeting all admission requirements, by 10 December 2026
  • Meet the specific admission requirements of that master's programme
  • Never enrolled in a degree programme in the Netherlands (past exchange students may apply)
  • Not older than 35 on 1 September 2027
  • A GPA of 7.5 out of 10 or higher (75 percent, or 3 out of 4) on your latest transcript
  • Documents: CV of up to two A4 pages, motivation letter on the university's template, transcript plus an explanation of your grading system, a personal statement of financial need, one reference letter dated no earlier than February 2026, and your referee's work contact details
  • One application, for one scholarship only; documents cannot be changed after you submit
  • Preference for candidates who do not yet hold a master's degree
