Who can apply

  • Aged 16 to 21, from anywhere in the world. Bow Seat's FAQ says you can apply at 15 if you turn 16 during the Council year, and at 21 if you turn 22 during it.
  • Must have participated in a Bow Seat programme (Blue Planet or Ocean Awareness Contest, True Blue Fellowship or Fellowship Grant Program, Healthy Whale Healthy Ocean Challenge, or the Marine Debris Creative Advocacy Competition). Winning is not required.
  • If you have never taken part, you can become eligible by submitting to the free 2027 Blue Planet Awareness Contest by November 9, 2026. That Contest is open to students aged 11 to 18 enrolled in middle or high school.
