The Digital Democracy Initiative is an ambitious global effort funded by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and the European Union and implemented in partnership with Access Now, CIVICUS, Digital Defenders Partnership, Global Focus, the International Work Group for Indigenous Affairs (IWGIA), the European Partnership for Democracy, Fondo Mujeres del Sur and WITNESS. DDI’s goal is to support civil society around the world to continue strengthening civic space and promoting inclusive democracy in the digital age through two mutually reinforcing streams Grant Funding: - Flexible, rapid support for digital resilience projects. - Amounts vary depending on project scope (typically small to medium grants). - Can cover digital security tools, training, advocacy, and organizational resilience. Purpose: Strengthen civil society’s ability to operate safely and effectively in digital spaces. Focus Areas: - Digital security and resilience. - Civic participation and democratic engagement. - Support for activists and organizations in restrictive environments. - Youth-led and grassroots movements. Flexibility: Grants can support registered and non-registered groups, informal networks, and individuals. Special Feature: Designed to be rapid and responsive to urgent needs.
