CIVICUS, the global civil society alliance, runs these rapid response grants jointly through its Crisis Response Fund and the Digital Democracy Initiative, an effort funded by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the European Union with Access Now, WITNESS and others. The money goes to local civil society organisations, groups and social movements in the Global South that are facing an imminent threat to their ability to organise, speak or assemble, and that need to build digital resilience quickly. Applications are open all year and reviewed as they arrive. **What you get:** - Up to USD 10,000 for one organisation applying alone, or up to USD 20,000 for a joint application between two or more organisations - Money paid in tranches: 40 percent on signing the agreement, 40 percent after interim reports, the final 20 percent after final reports - Six to eight weeks from application to contracting and first disbursement - Funds you can spend on digital security training, security assessments, equipment and licences, legal responses to online attacks and harassment, and psychosocial support - Up to 30 percent of the budget can cover personnel, with the majority going to project activities - Downloadable application and budget templates so you can draft offline before you start the online form - A referral to other funders in the CIVICUS network if you are not eligible and a referral is possible **What you'll do:** - Show a verifiable imminent civic space threat, with evidence of the risk from the last three to six months - Propose a resiliency response that uses digital technology or builds digital resilience, delivered in under six months - Prepare a budget on the Excel template CIVICUS provides and upload it with your application - Submit monthly narrative and financial updates backed by receipts, and join monthly check-in calls - File final narrative and financial reports, plus an impact report three months after the project ends **Key dates:** - No deadline.
