Who can apply

  • Teams must have at least three members, and each member's capacity development must be explained
  • All team members must be early-career conservationists with no more than five years of paid conservation experience, regardless of age
  • All team members must be nationals of the country where the project takes place; one non-national may join with clear justification and must be a national of an eligible country
  • The project must take place in an eligible low- or middle-income country in Africa, Asia, the Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean, Eastern and South-eastern Europe or the Middle East; high-income and sanctioned countries are listed as ineligible in the guidelines
  • No minimum education is required; undergraduate and master's students may apply, but anyone currently enrolled in a PhD programme may not
  • No team member may be an employee or contractor of BirdLife International, Fauna & Flora or the Wildlife Conservation Society
  • Anyone currently on an active CLP project is not eligible
  • The project must be new, must go beyond academic research, and must last six to 12 months
  • The CLP request must not exceed US$15,000 and must cover at least 50% of the total project budget
  • Concept notes must be written in English by the team
