Who can apply

  • The lead applicant must be a registered nonprofit, charity or equivalent legal entity in the country where it operates
  • The application must come from a collective action initiative of two or more organisations; single-organisation projects are not eligible
  • Partners can include NGOs, government agencies and for-profit companies in supporting roles, but only a registered nonprofit can lead
  • The work must directly relieve poverty or disadvantage for a clearly identified group of learners, not the general public
  • The initiative must help education respond to the AI era in a way that closes gaps for disadvantaged learners, which can include a reasoned choice not to use AI
  • The work must be for charitable purposes, not private or commercial benefit
  • The lead applicant must be willing to complete the foundation's legal, financial and safeguarding due diligence if invited to the next stage
  • Beneficiaries must not be based in a country subject to international sanctions
  • Not eligible: standalone research, individual scholarships or bursaries, one-off events, endowments, retrospective funding, debt repayment, lobbying, religious activity and commercial ventures
