The Adi and Isca Wittenberg Scholarship is a UK-based award open to young people from asylum-seeking backgrounds who are ineligible for UK Student Finance and are pursuing their first undergraduate degree. For the 2026 cycle, the scholarship is specifically dedicated to students pursuing degrees in engineering. The scholarship covers home tuition fees and associated study costs, with the exact amount dependent on the candidate's individual circumstances and university location. The Trust also assists successful candidates in requesting home fee status from their chosen university. To be eligible, applicants must be currently living in the UK, have applied to or be enrolled in an undergraduate course at a UK university through UCAS, be under 30 years of age when their course begins, and be either an asylum seeker or hold a form of temporary leave to remain (such as Limited Leave to Remain, Discretionary Leave, Section 67 leave, or similar) that excludes them from UK Student Finance. The scholarship is named after Adi and Isca Wittenberg, who both fled Nazi Germany as refugees at age 16 and went on to pursue higher education and successful careers despite significant hardship. Applications for 2026 close at 5pm BST on 29 May 2026, with interviews scheduled for July 2026.
