About this opportunity

Aidsfonds, the Amsterdam-based HIV funder, has opened the first call of its new ActHIVate Fund, which puts flexible money straight into MSM-led and trans-led community organisations delivering HIV services where healthcare is restricted or criminalised. This first round shares €2 million among 16 to 20 organisations in nine countries, and each grant can cover core running costs as well as project work, from April 2027 to December 2028.

What you get:

A grant of €52,500 to €140,000 for 1 year and 9 months (April 2027 to December 2028), equal to €30,000 to €80,000 a year
Up to 60 percent of the budget can go to core costs such as staff, rent, overhead, registration and audits
Decisions made by a Grantmaking Committee of community leaders from the regions and communities the fund covers

What you'll do:

Deliver community-led HIV services to MSM and trans people, such as prevention, linkage to treatment, adherence follow-up and mental health support
Use evidence from that service delivery to advocate for better access to HIV care and fewer barriers in health systems
Work towards integrating MSM and trans friendly services into existing public or private health systems
Carry out the work in one country only; multi-country projects are not eligible

Who can apply

Locally registered, non-profit, non-governmental organisation in the country of implementation; unregistered groups may apply through a fiscal host
Led by MSM and/or trans community members, who hold significant decision-making authority over programme and budget
Proven substantial track record in HIV-related service delivery to MSM and/or trans communities, advocacy, or engagement with government and health systems
Implementation in one of: Nigeria, Uganda, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Ukraine
An annual organisational budget of at least €30,000 in at least one of 2024, 2025 or 2026; the yearly request cannot exceed the organisation's 2024 to 2026 average budget
Partnerships of up to two organisations may apply, with one lead applicant; an organisation may be part of only one application
Not eligible: individuals, international NGOs and their local branches, UN bodies, educational, political, governmental or religious institutions, companies and research institutions
Out of scope: medicines and PrEP procurement, clinical trials, conferences, economic empowerment, large capital purchases, multi-country work
