About this opportunity

Creative Capital provides unrestricted project grants to individual artists creating bold, innovative new works in Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Film, and Literature. In addition to funding, awardees receive professional development, industry connections, and community‑building support.

Benefits include:

Creative Capital Award: $15,000 – $50,000 USD per project (unrestricted, drawn down over 5 years)
State of the Art Prize: $10,000 USD unrestricted grant (one artist per U.S. state/territory)
Access to Creative Capital Artist Lab (professional development courses)
Networking, mentorship, and visibility through Creative Capital’s national platform

Who can apply

Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, Tribal ID holder, or O‑1 visa holder
Must be at least 25 years old with 5+ years of professional artistic practice
Cannot be enrolled in a degree‑granting program at time of application
May not have previously received a Creative Capital Award
Only one project proposal per cycle (collaborators count as co‑awardees)
Projects must be new, original, and innovative (not promotional, not ongoing operations, not children’s/YA literature, not journalism/podcasts)
Application process:
Round I: Project proposal + 1 work sample
Round II: Expanded materials + eligibility proof
Round III: Final panel review
Working (full-time or part-time)
Graduate student
Entrepreneur
