TechLocal is part of the UK Government’s TechFirst initiative, designed to bridge the gap between training and employment by funding collaborative projects that help local tech talent secure entry‑level jobs in frontier technology sectors. The program supports SMEs and regional employers to adopt and benefit from skilled workforces.

Benefits include:

Grant funding between £100,000 – £225,000 GBP per project
Support for collaborative projects across UK regions
Contribution to TechLocal’s target of 1,000 new tech jobs
Priority for projects supporting women into tech roles
Alignment with national/local growth and skills strategies

Who can apply

UK registered business, RTO, academic institution, charity, nonprofit, or public sector organisation (local authorities cannot lead)
Collaborative projects required (lead + at least one partner)
Project duration: 6–9 months
Must deliver measurable impact in one or more frontier technologies
Must align with local/national growth and skills strategies
Funding rates: up to 70% (small orgs), 60% (medium), 50% (large)
Running a project or organization
Working (full-time or part-time)
