TKS (The Knowledge Society) is giving up to $1,000 each to five student-led projects at high schools in Canada and the US. Students pitch a club, hackathon, school event or other shared activity, TKS reviews it, and the five projects with the most public votes by October 31 win the funding. What you get: - Up to $1,000 for your project, paid in CAD for Canadian schools and USD for US schools - Funding for event costs, materials, software, venue, food or prizes - A public project page your school community can vote on - A place on the Winners page if your project is selected What you'll do: - Pitch a project that brings students together, such as a hackathon, robotics competition, career fair or repair club - Write a simple budget of 3 to 5 line items - Name an educator at your school, who is only contacted if your project wins - Add an optional short video, sketch, prototype or photo - Share your project page and collect votes before voting closes - If you win, send a short note and a photo on how the project went Key Dates: - TKS reviews each project within three business days - Applications and voting close October 31, 2026 at 11:59 pm ET - Winners announced November 6, 2026 - Payments start within five business days of November 6 - Apply early: your project only collects votes once it is approved - One application per project, and one per student as the primary applicant - Teams can include students from more than one school - Each person can vote once per project, and their vote counts twice if they confirm a subscription to TKS's Developing Future-Ready Leaders newsletter - Funds cannot pay the applicant or be used for personal use, political campaigning, or anything unsafe or unlawful - Funds go to the educator or school where possible, and a direct payment to a student needs a parent or guardian to confirm
