Good to know

+Full tuition for a two-year master's at a leading school of international affairs, renewable for year two
+Open to citizens of every country, with special consideration for financial need and for first-generation and underrepresented applicants
+No separate scholarship application: you opt in on the admissions application and add an essay and a financial aid form

Worth checking yourself

!Tuition only. Living costs in Washington DC, fees, health insurance and travel are yours to cover
!Renewal for the second year needs full-time enrolment and a cumulative GPA of 3.4
!You must be admitted to the SAIS MAIR itself; the award cannot be deferred, used at another campus or used for exchange or dual degree programmes
!Fellows must join at least one admissions recruitment activity each semester and complete programme surveys
!The MA in International Relations admission application costs $85, which the scholarship does not cover. SAIS waives the admission fee for alumni of programmes such as AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, Teach For America, Fulbright, PPIA, Rangel, Pickering, Payne and Truman, and for US military veterans, on proof of participation, but not for financial hardship
!Applying by 1 November 2026 gets you an early admission decision, but scholarship news still comes in March
