Named after Ronald Reagan and Dante Fascell, this program provides fellows with time, space, and resources to advance democracy work. Tracks:

Practitioner Track → For activists, journalists, civil society leaders, union organizers, parliamentarians, lawyers, etc. (no degree requirement; mid‑career experience expected).
Scholarly Track → For academics with a Ph.D. (or equivalent), publication record, and detailed research plan. Program activities:
Independent research project on democracy in a specific country/region
Seminars, roundtables, field trips, and networking with U.S. and international democracy advocates
Culminating presentation of research or project outcomes
Integration into NED’s “Democracy Accelerator” framework for transnational learning Benefits:
Monthly stipend covering living expenses
Health insurance
Round‑trip travel to Washington, D.C.
Office space and research support
Professional development and networking opportunities

Must demonstrate English proficiency
Must propose a project on democracy (political, social, economic, legal, or cultural aspects)
Must be available full‑time in Washington, D.C. for 5 months
Practitioner track → substantial practical experience in democracy/human rights
Scholarly track → Ph.D. or equivalent, publication record, detailed research outline
Former fellows not eligible for repeat fellowships
