  • Type: Fellowship
  • Location: Global
  • Deadline: November 15, 2026

Civic activists, artists, researchers, journalists, educators, designers, chefs, programmers and people from many other fields are welcome, and the organisers say curiosity and a willingness to experiment matter more than a job title. **What you get:** - Accommodation in Kuldīga Old Town for the three-week residency - A EUR 1,000 stipend for everyday expenses during the residency - A separate budget of up to EUR 1,000 to develop and run your activity - A place for your activity in the programme of the Kuldīga Democracy Festival, 20 and 21 August 2027 - Three weeks alongside five other residents from different fields and countries, with local people involved in the planning **What you'll do:** - Spend three weeks in Kuldīga, 3 to 23 August 2027, exploring how democracy can be made tangible - Develop an activity that festival visitors take part in rather than watch: a game, a workshop, a performance, a new format for conversation or participation, or something that does not have a name yet - Work with the other residents or on your own, and involve local people in planning and developing it - Present it at the Kuldīga Democracy Festival on 20 and 21 August 2027, at the end of the residency **Key dates:** - Applications opened 15 September 2026 - Applications close 15 November 2026 - Selection results announced in January 2027 - Residency runs 3 to 23 August 2027 in Kuldīga, Latvia - Kuldīga Democracy Festival, 20 and 21 August 2027 **More information:** - Selection has two stages: a review of applications, then an online interview for shortlisted applicants.
