The Oxford Farming Conference, one of the UK's leading agricultural events, runs Breaking Barriers as the directly funded strand of its Scholars Programme, now in its 25th year. Eight young people who face real barriers to getting into food, farming and agriculture get a fully funded place on the 2027 programme: two in-person away days, online sessions and three days at the conference in Oxford in January 2027. You do not need to be working or studying in the sector now. **What you get:** - A fully funded place, one of eight, on the OFC Scholars Programme 2027, funded by OFC with Severn Trent Water and M&S Food - A full ticket to the Oxford Farming Conference, 6 to 8 January 2027, including the Chair's Welcome Reception, the Oxford Union Debate and the Christ Church dinner - Accommodation and meals as part of the Scholars package - Two in-person away days, a supply chain day in London and a primary production day at Harper Adams in Shropshire - An extra Breaking Barriers day with an overnight stay on 24 November, and an online introductory call with the cohort and OFC Directors - Bespoke online skills sessions run for Scholars only **What you'll do:** - Network with around 30 young Scholars from across food and farming - Take part in skills development training online and in person between November and December 2026 - Attend the full two-day conference in Oxford and add your own views to the conversation **Key dates:** - Applications close 5pm UK time, Friday 16 October 2026 - Shortlisting week of 19 October 2026; candidates notified week of 26 October 2026 - Supply Chain Day, London: 12 November 2026 - Breaking Barriers extra day with overnight stay: 24 November 2026 - Primary Production Day, Harper Adams, Shropshire: 25 November 2026 - Online webinars between 12 November and 12 December 2026 - Oxford Farming Conference: 6 to 8 January 2027 **More information:** - Apply directly as an individual, not through an organisation, business or charity - You can submit a short video instead of written answers - Questions about whether you are eligible can go confidentially to the OFC Secretariat, whose address is on the programme page
