About this opportunity

L’Oréal USA partners with the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) to manage the program’s application and peer-review process. Each year, the program attracts talented applicants from diverse STEM fields, representing some of the nation’s leading academic institutions and laboratories. Since 2003, the L’Oréal USA For Women in Science fellowship program has awarded over 100 postdoctoral women scientists almost $5 million in grants.

Purpose: Recognize and support five outstanding women postdoctoral researchers in STEM. Award: $75,000 USD per fellow. Eligibility Requirements:

PhD conferred and postdoctoral position started by January 31, 2026
Must remain a postdoctoral researcher throughout fellowship year
American born, naturalized citizen, or permanent resident
Affiliated with a U.S. academic or research institution
Conduct research in the U.S. Fields: life sciences, physical/material sciences, engineering & technology, computer science, mathematics
Cannot hold a faculty position
Must commit to at least 20 hours of outreach supporting women and girls in science
Must be available during Awards Week (November 9, 2026) Selection Process:
Two‑phase review: peer evaluation + jury of eminent scientists
Criteria: scientific excellence, intellectual merit, career potential, community service commitment Budget Guidelines:
Funds may cover research costs, conferences, publications, equipment, and limited salary support
Up to 10% may be allocated for outreach projects
