The Association of Commonwealth Universities runs the King's Commonwealth Fellowship Programme, launched by King Charles III, and this new undergraduate pathway pays for students from 24 Commonwealth Small Island Developing States to earn a bachelor's degree at an approved university in their home country or region. Who can apply

  • Citizenship of, or recognised refugee status in, one of 24 Commonwealth Small Island Developing States: Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, Maldives, Mauritius, Seychelles, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu
  • Due to start undergraduate study between January and December 2027; students already enrolled in a degree are not eligible
  • No existing higher education qualification, including a bachelor's or any postgraduate degree
  • Full-time study only, on an approved programme at an approved Host University in your home country, or in your region if your country has none
  • Host universities: Fiji National University, National University of Samoa, Papua New Guinea University of Technology, University of Belize, University of Mauritius, University of Technology Mauritius, University of the West Indies (Cave Hill) and Villa College
  • Fellowship is conditional on securing admission to the chosen programme; no offer is needed at the time of applying
  • Two written statements of 300 to 500 words, two recommendation letters, a CV, school transcripts and a passport or national ID, all in English
  • No upper age limit
  • Fellows must stay in their home country or region for at least three years after graduating; this cannot be waived or repaid
