About this opportunity

The Center for Community Investment runs the Fulcrum Fellowship, a 13-month leadership programme for senior US leaders who are moving capital toward community priorities in housing, climate resilience, shared ownership, philanthropy and finance. Fellows bring a real strategic challenge from their own organisation and work on it through five in-person seminars in Berkeley, California, plus monthly virtual coaching. This cycle pays particular attention to small and mid-size cities and communities across the US South.

What you get:

No registration or tuition costs
Travel and hotel for all five seminars covered by CCI, with all materials provided
Meals and transport while travelling eligible for reimbursement
Hardship stipends considered case by case, for example family care or technology access
One-to-one and group coaching, and a network of peers across sectors and regions

What you'll do:

Advance a core strategic challenge from your own job using CCI's Capital Absorption Framework
Attend five multi-day in-person seminars in Berkeley, California, between April 2027 and May 2028
Commit up to 10 to 15 hours between seminars to coaching, webinars, readings and progress summaries

Who can apply

Must be based in the United States; CCI cannot currently support fellows outside the US
At least 10 to 15 years working in a focus field: shared ownership, climate resilience, housing and community development, creative placemaking, philanthropy, finance or community health
Leading strategic work of real importance to your organisation, community or field, with significant authority in your role
Demonstrated commitment to racial equity with tangible results or sustained effort
A strategic challenge that requires capital, or influence over policy shaping capital investment, and is core to your existing job
Written endorsement from your organisation: a letter from your direct supervisor and a letter from your CEO or board
Must attend all five in-person seminars; no remote option
Application needs a CV, an organisational chart, two references, short essays and a signed commitment to participate
