About this opportunity

A prestigious 10-month research fellowship for international researchers and scholars conducting innovative research projects in France. 29 fellowship positions are available across seven French Institutes for Advanced Study in Aix-Marseille, Cergy, Loire Valley, Lyon, Montpellier, Nantes, and Paris. The program supports high-level academic research in Social Sciences and Humanities, plus interdisciplinary research connected to these fields. Fellows work in an intellectually stimulating environment with international scholars while enjoying academic freedom and access to research centers, libraries, laboratories, and institutional networks.

Who can apply

Applicants from all countries and nationalities are eligible to apply. Candidates must possess a doctoral degree and have at least two years of full-time research experience after obtaining their PhD by the application deadline. The PhD training period itself is not counted toward the required experience. Researchers at all career stages, including postdoctoral researchers and senior scholars, may apply. The programme follows the Marie Skłodowska-Curie mobility rule. Applicants must not have resided or carried out their primary work or studies in France for more than 12 months during the three years immediately before the application deadline. The fellowship is open to all disciplines within the Social Sciences and Humanities and also welcomes projects from other research fields that strongly interface with SSH disciplines. Applications from artists who meet the eligibility requirements are also accepted. All applications must be submitted in English and completed through the official online application platform.
