Six European universities led by Leuphana University of Lüneburg in Germany run the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master in International Law of Security, Peace and Sustainable Development (ILSPSD), a two-year degree for future lawyers and policy makers working on security, peace, human rights and sustainability. EU-funded Erasmus Mundus scholarships for the 2027 to 2029 intake pay €1,400 a month for 24 months and waive the €24,000 tuition fee, and people of every nationality can apply. Who can apply

  • Open to applicants of every nationality
  • A completed undergraduate degree of at least 180 ECTS (or equivalent) that gives access to Master's study; scholarship applicants must have finished it by the time they apply
  • At least 60 ECTS in law for the LL.M. track, or 60 ECTS in relevant subjects (law, political science, international relations and related social sciences) for the M.A. track
  • Extra requirements for some semester 3 tracks: a 2.1 honours or equivalent for Glasgow, 240 ECTS or four years of study for Brussels, 60 ECTS of law for Tartu
  • English at C1: IELTS Academic 7.0, TOEFL iBT 5 (95 for tests before 21 January 2026), Cambridge CAE or CPE, unless English is your first language or your degree was taught in English in a listed country; Duolingo is not accepted
  • Language test results must be submitted with the application and be no more than two years old
  • Glasgow track needs IELTS 7.0 with no part under 6.5; Brussels track needs B2 French
  • Two reference letters dated within two years, at least one academic; a personal statement of up to about 1,000 words; a CV with photo; school leaving certificate; degree and transcripts
  • You cannot apply if you have already held an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master scholarship
