About this opportunity

The Commonwealth Foundation, the Commonwealth's intergovernmental organisation for civil society, funds not for profit organisations and creative collectives across its 44 eligible member countries to advance social, cultural and political change. Its 2026-27 open call runs two complementary streams: Individual Organisation Grants for standalone projects and a new Collective Action Grants stream for networks, coalitions and alliances. Every project must address one or more of three priority themes and integrate gender and intersectionality throughout its design.

What you'll do:

Deliver a project that advances change through constructive engagement with decision makers, creative advocacy, or both
Implement the project, at minimum, in the applicant organisation's country of registration; multi country projects need strong local participation in each country
Integrate gender and intersectionality considerations into project design and implementation
Begin the funded project between 1 August 2027 and 30 September 2027

Who can apply

Not for profit civil society organisation, creative organisation, or network/coalition/alliance/creative collective
Registered and operating on a not for profit basis for at least three years
Registered in an eligible Commonwealth Foundation member country (44 countries across Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe and the Pacific)
Organisations in Canada, the UK, Australia and New Zealand cannot lead an application but may participate as partners
At least three years of demonstrable experience relevant to the proposed project and one of the three strategic impact areas
Significant experience working in the communities where the project will be delivered
Average annual income over the past two years must be less than £2.5 million
Requested grant must not exceed 70% of the applicant's total annual income averaged over the past two years
Not currently implementing a Commonwealth Foundation grant, or awaiting final payment from a recent one
Project must address one or more of the Foundation's three priority themes and integrate gender and intersectionality
