Chevening is the UK government's international scholarships programme, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and partner organisations. It brings emerging leaders from eligible countries and territories, Canada included, to the UK for a full-time, one-year taught master's at any UK university, paying tuition fees, a monthly living allowance, economy return flights and the visa application. Who can apply

Citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory. The full list is the country selector on chevening.org/apply, and it includes Canada.
If you are applying from an ODA-eligible country, you must live in an ODA-eligible country when you apply (it need not be your country of citizenship) and show a clear intention to support your country of award.
Not open to British or dual British citizens, unless you are a citizen of a British Overseas Territory or hold BN(O) status and are applying from Hong Kong.
Not open to anyone living in the UK when they apply (British Overseas Territories excepted).
At least two years of work experience gained after your undergraduate degree, totalling at least 2,800 hours. Full-time and part-time jobs, voluntary work and paid or unpaid internships all count, across up to 15 separate periods.
For this cycle you must have completed your undergraduate degree by October 2024, and the work requirement must already be met when you submit. Final-year undergraduates cannot apply.
An undergraduate degree that qualifies you for a UK master's, typically equivalent to a UK upper second-class (2:1) honours degree. You need your degree certificate by the time of any interview.
Three different eligible UK master's courses: full-time, taught, based in the UK, starting in the autumn term and lasting 9 to 12 months. Part-time, distance learning, PhD and January-start courses are not eligible.

A commitment to return to your country of award for at least two years after the scholarship ends. Scholars cannot switch to the UK Graduate route visa, and anyone who does not stay home for the two years is liable to repay the award.

Not open to anyone who has already studied in the UK on a UK government-funded scholarship, or to Chevening Scholarship alumni. Former Chevening Fellows can apply five years after completing their fellowship.
Not open to employees, or former employees within two years of applications opening, of a government department, the British Council, a partner UK university or their wholly owned subsidiaries, nor to their immediate relatives, as Chevening's eligibility page words it. Anyone contracted to work on a British Council programme is also ineligible.
Not open to anyone holding refugee status in a country that is not Chevening-eligible.
