In March 2023, the Broadbent institute launched its inaugural Emerging Leaders Program – a transformative initiative uniting visionary minds from across Canada. The goal of the Broadbent Institute’s Emerging Leaders Program is to provide leaders working for systemic change with hands-on training and ongoing mentorship and networking opportunities to increase their skills and capacity around progressive policies and projects. Duration: 10 months (Feb–Nov 2026) Format: Hybrid — monthly virtual workshops + in‑person events Commitment: 3–4 hours per month + mandatory attendance at Progress Summit & Gala Skill Development: - Team leadership & communication - Advocacy campaign organizing - Government relations (insider & outsider strategies) - Stakeholder engagement & consensus building - Media best practices (digital, social, traditional) Mentorship: Each participant matched with a mentor (6 monthly meetings). In‑person events: - Progress Summit (Ottawa, March 4–6, 2026) - Progress Gala (Toronto, November 2026) Policy focus areas: - Decommodification of care (healthcare, fair compensation, credential recognition) - Empowerment of workers (labour organizing, migrant rights, democratic reform) - Climate action (just transition, environmental justice, decarbonization) - Social democracy & equity (feminism, anti‑racism, disability rights, Indigenous rights)
