Who can apply

  • Must hold a law degree: Juris Doctor (J.D.), Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience or interest in international human rights law
  • Past winners cannot enter
  • One essay per person, in English or Spanish, written by one author only; co-authored essays are not accepted
  • The essay must be unpublished and within the 2027 topic, or it is disqualified
  • Maximum 35 pages including footnotes; longer essays are disqualified automatically
  • Include a separate CV of no more than three pages; no other attachments
  • No emailed entries; submit through the online form
