No technical AI background is needed. **What you get:** - Eight weeks of structured online learning on AI, climate, ethics and governance, at no cost to take part - Discussion, peer review and written feedback on a governance policy brief you help write - A place in a cohort of about 25 early-career Africans working on climate, technology and governance - No cash stipend or allowance is mentioned on the organisers' own pages **What you'll do:** - Study how AI is used in climate modelling, energy systems, early-warning systems and carbon accounting - Examine the research and policy questions around carbon dioxide removal and solar radiation modification - Work through questions of risk, responsibility, fairness, participation and representation in technology decisions - Learn the laws, standards, institutions and processes through which technologies are governed - Produce a governance policy brief in a small group, grounded in a real country, field or policy problem **Key dates:** - Applications close 16 October 2026 at 11:59 PM GMT - Onboarding 20 October 2026 - Programme runs 21 October to 15 December 2026 **More information:** - Programme page on the YARA website: https://yarafrica.org/programmes/ai-ethics-climate-governance - YARA opportunities page: https://yarafrica.org/opportunities
