Programme Overview: Develops African leaders in genomics, diagnostics, vaccine design, and biotechnology innovation. Tracks:

ATT (Advanced & Translational Training Fellowship) – 4 months
Intensive training in genomics for public health, diagnostics, and vaccine manufacturing
Leadership development in grants, financial management, and strategic leadership
YPP (Young Professional Programme Fellowship) – 12 months
Focus on biotechnology innovation and entrepreneurship
Placements at commercial companies, industry, or innovation hubs
Training in problem‑solving, communication, project management, and grantsmanship Benefits:
Fully funded training (travel, visa, accommodation)
Monthly stipend for living expenses
Mentorship and career development support
Placements at leading research institutes and biotech hubs
Access to the African STARS Alumni Network

Who can apply

Born in and/or living in Africa
Age 35 or younger
Relevant postgraduate qualification (minimum Master’s; PhD advantageous)
ATT Track: Minimum 3 years of research, innovation, or industry experience
YPP Track: Minimum 5 years of experience in research management, innovation, or commercialization
Demonstrated excellence in genomics, diagnostics, biotechnology, or vaccine development
Strong leadership potential and commitment to advancing Africa’s scientific capacity
Willingness to remain in Africa to contribute to local initiatives
Fluency in English or French (proficiency in both is an advantage)
Women are strongly encouraged to apply
