Scholarship guidance for 14,000 students across Nigeria
Bright Ekperebuikem Divine founded The Scholar's Guide on 25 October 2024, and it has since reached 14,000+ students, supported 600+ in obtaining scholarships and opportunities, and hosted 10 webinars.
The Scholar's Guide launched on 25 October 2024. Bright Ekperebuikem Divine, a medical student at Abia State University Uturu, founded it "with a simple belief: no student should lose a life-changing educational opportunity because they lacked information, guidance, or someone to show them the way," he says.
The platform connects students with scholarships, mentorship, educational resources and practical guidance. Thousands of academic opportunities exist globally, he says, yet many students never hear about them or do not know how to submit competitive applications. "Rather than simply sharing scholarship links, we teach students how to become competitive applicants," he says. That means personal statement writing, interview preparation and application strategies.
“When my name is spoken long after I am gone, let it be remembered not for what I achieved, but for the lives that became possible because I lived.”

The numbers so far: 14,000+ students reached, 600+ supported in obtaining scholarships and opportunities he values at millions of naira, 24 students mentored, and 10 educational webinars hosted. The WhatsApp Channel has more than 13,000 followers, the Instagram page over 700 and the LinkedIn page over 2,600. In December 2025 the platform started a Feeding Initiative, which has supported 21 underprivileged students across Nigeria. "A meal may seem small, but it communicates hope, dignity, and the reassurance that someone believes in their future," he says. Partnerships with a Sierra Leonean educational initiative and The Love Hope Academia take the work across borders.
The reason is personal. He lost his father at 13, and financial hardship forced him to withdraw from school for a time and face an uncertain academic future. "I understand what it feels like to search endlessly for scholarships, prepare applications with little guidance, and worry about whether financial limitations will interrupt your education," he says. Many capable students, he says, are held back by insufficient access to information, to opportunities and to support systems.
Most of it still runs on social media. The unfinished piece is a full website, which he wants to become the central hub for scholarship opportunities, webinar registration, mentorship applications, articles, educational resources and application templates. He founded The Scholar's Guide, he says, "to ensure that no student is compelled to abandon their aspirations due to a lack of guidance, access, or resources."
