Young Diplomats of Canada is a youth-led non-profit that has held consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council since 2018. It is recruiting young Canadians for its official delegations to two United Nations summits in 2027: the 71st Commission on the Status of Women in March, and the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development in July, both at UN Headquarters in New York. There is no fee to apply and no fee to take part, but this is a self-funded delegation. You pay your own flights, accommodation, meals, visa and insurance, and YDC states plainly that it offers no bursaries or financial assistance. **What you get:** - A place on an official Canadian youth delegation to CSW71 in March 2027 or the High-level Political Forum in July 2027 - Training beforehand, and a Program Coordinator paired with you throughout - Access to official UN meetings as well as side events run by member states and civil society - A route to speak on the record, through written statements, oral interventions and your own parallel events - A team of only three to six delegates, meetings with senior officials and experts, and the YDC alumni network **What you'll do:** - Attend the summit in full for the duration of the delegation's time in New York - Submit written statements, deliver oral interventions, or organise side and parallel events with other civil society actors - Give two to five hours a week to the delegation - Complete a mandatory final report plus one further deliverable chosen by your delegation - Arrange and pay for your own flights, accommodation, meals, visa and insurance **Key dates:** - Applications close 4 September 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time - CSW71 runs 8 to 19 March 2027 at UN Headquarters, New York - The High-level Political Forum runs in July 2027, dates still to be confirmed by the UN
