The World Food Forum, the youth platform FAO set up in 2021, is recruiting early-career researchers for the fourth cohort of its Young Scientists Group. Members spend two years feeding scientific evidence into the WFF Youth Initiative and writing a peer-reviewed report on an agrifood systems issue that matters to young people. It is open to master's and PhD students and graduates aged 18 to 35 from any FAO member country, and it asks for about 20 hours a month. **What you get:** - A two-year seat on the WFF's scientific advisory body, working alongside FAO technical experts - Authorship of the group's biennial report, which goes through peer review by qualified peers or FAO experts - Experience in interdisciplinary research, scientific writing, evidence synthesis and science-policy work, in FAO's own words - Chances to speak at events, interviews and podcasts as a YSG member, with WFF authorisation **What you'll do:** - Year one: consultations, priority-setting, evidence gathering and technical input to WFF activities, ending with the choice of the report's topic - Year two: research, drafting, peer review and launch of the biennial report - Feed evidence into Youth Assembly and Youth Policy Board consultations - Write literature reviews and other short research outputs where useful **Key dates:** - Applications close 29 January 2027 at 23:59 CET (Rome time) - Final selection announced by April 2027 - Cohort term runs two years, 2027 to 2029 **More information:** - Full eligibility and duties are in the YSG Terms of Reference (PDF) linked from the programme page - Selection has three rounds: an eligibility and experience screen, a shortlist by an FAO expert committee (shortlisted candidates send a recommendation letter and a two-minute video), then interviews - The form asks for an updated CV; FAO says applications substantially written by generative AI will not be considered - Questions go to partnerships@world-food-forum.org - The pages do not say whether members are paid or whether travel to WFF events is covered
