The Western Balkans Fund is an intergovernmental organisation set up by the governments of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia. Its Move scheme pays for one person to travel to another of those six places to do something specific: a research visit, an artist residency, a training course, a conference, a work placement. You apply on your own behalf, and you need an invitation letter from the institution that will host you. Note that this call closes at midday, not at the end of the day. **What you get:** - Between EUR 500 and EUR 3,000, covering up to 100% of your eligible costs - 70% paid up front once you sign the grant contract, the remaining 30% after your final report is approved - Travel costs, accommodation up to EUR 65 a night inside the region, and a daily allowance of EUR 40 - Medical and travel insurance, visa fees, and the registration fee for the event or course you attend - Up to 7% of your budget for promoting the activity - Additional support for applicants with disabilities, including accessible transport and accommodation - Mentoring and regular check-ins from the WBF team while you carry the mobility out **What you'll do:** - Travel to one of the six Contracting Parties other than the one you live in, for a short defined activity - Work with a host institution that has formally invited you in writing - Build the activity around one of three areas: cultural cooperation, education and scientific exchange, or sustainable development - Carry out the mobility between December 2026 and April 2027 - Submit a narrative and financial report, on WBF templates, by 30 April 2027 **Key dates:** - Call opened 4 September 2026 - Online info session 11 September 2026 at 11:00 CET, registration required in advance - Last day to email questions 25 September 2026 - Applications close 5 October 2026 at 12:59 CET - Funding decisions notified by email no later than 25 November 2026 - Mobility activities run December 2026 to April 2027 - Final report due no later than 30 April 2027 **More information:** - Full rules, cost ceilings and the scoring grid are in the Guidelines for Application, 7th Open Call for MOVE Grants 2026 - Applications are submitted through the WBF Online Grant Management System at wbfportal.org, which needs an account - Questions go to info@westernbalkansfund.org with "Q: MOVE Grants Applications" in the subject line, by 25 September - The overall budget for this call is EUR 40,000, and 173 people have been funded across the six previous calls
