Who can apply

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, or a junior or senior, or graduated within the last two years
  • You must have already secured an internship with a local, state or federal government office or agency in the United States
  • Fall and spring internships must be at least 10 hours a week and run for a minimum of 12 weeks
  • Summer internships must be at least 15 hours a week and run for a minimum of 8 weeks
  • Internships at a university or a non-profit organisation are not eligible
  • Priority goes to applicants who have historically faced barriers to internships, including first generation students, nontraditional students and Pell Grant recipients, and to juniors and seniors
  • The application asks for applicant details, a resume, three short answers of 100 to 300 words, and details of your internship
  • Students and recent graduates in the United States who have already lined up a local, state or federal government internship and need the money to make it workable.
