About this opportunity

The Slingshot Challenge invites youth aged 13–18 to create and submit a one-minute video proposing a solution to a pressing environmental issue. Participants choose from five topic areas—climate change, waste reduction, nature protection, air quality, and ocean restoration—and share their ideas to help slingshot the planet forward. Winning entries receive funding and global recognition, with opportunities to connect with National Geographic Explorers and other changemakers.

Who can apply

Be 13–18 years old
Submit a 1-minute original video addressing one of five themes:
Climate change
Waste reduction
Nature protection
Air quality
Ocean restoration
Work solo or in teams of up to six members
Ensure video is ≤200 MB, in English or Spanish, and follows community guidelines
Participate in Solution Design Labs or Office Hours (optional)
Submit via the online portal
